Are you “Woke” or “Awakened”?

“Woke” became a popular word meaning “be aware of injustice by the powers that be”. It began as a battle cry against racism.

Racism is evil. In the Bible, in the book of James chapter 2:9 it says showing partiality is sin. This country has a shameful past of slavery, segregation, and racism. Today our country has mostly grown to accept all people as equals. Admittedly, there are pockets of racist groups throughout the nation, but discrimination laws are in place and socially people are less discriminating than in years past. White Supremacists are despised by most people as are other racist groups.

There are some who are stirring up hate and shaming the descendants of those who embraced the wickedness of slavery, oppression, and segregation. It is never right to repay evil with evil! We are to overcome evil with good. Turning the tables or reversing the prejudice is not right!  (Romans 12:17, 21) Children should not pay for the sins of their parents (Ezekiel 18:20).

Christians are certainly without any excuse for showing preference to people of their own skin color. We are really all one race. We are all the sons and daughters of Adam and Eve. Paul wrote to the church at Galatia: “There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.” Galatians 3:28

It is time for people to stop excusing bad behavior and blaming all of their problems on others. Everyone needs to step up and take responsibility for their own actions!

Woke” has now expanded to become a battle cry for those who embrace homosexuality. These militant rebels are revolting against God’s creation of the traditional family. They believe they are “woke” when they have been poisoned by corruption. The truth is they have not been “woke” but have been blinded.
2Co 4:3  But even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing,

2Co 4:4  whose minds the god of this age has blinded, who do not believe, lest the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine on them.

  • 1Co 15:34  Awake to righteousness, and do not sin; for some do not have the knowledge of God. I speak this to your shame.
  • Rom 13:11  And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed.
