Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanksgiving was very different this year with so many of our family away. James away serving our country and his beautiful family living far from us, John working, and Josh away visiting his two collegiate sisters Joanna and Jessica in Florida. We still had a lovely time and the food, as usual was incredible!

The A.T.&T. Uverse guy arrived promptly at 1:00 P.M.

I am confident that today I will have my High Speed Internet, and my Uverse TV. It seems to me that the techs who are installing the service are having a hard time keeping up with the heavy demand the sales crew are sending them. Perhaps they should hire more installation guys.

I am on my new high speed Internet at this moment! It’s awesome!

The technician who came out today was excellant. He knew what he had to do and he got right to it. He installed everything in 3 hours. He ran CAT5 cables, snaked them under the carpet out of sight and installed all three digital boxes. He put the router and main TV Digital box right where I wanted them. I couldn’t be happier with the installation. The guy was really good. He had another call after mine. I think that he had to double up his work because I had to be worked in. I can better appreciate the difficulties these guys face after talking to him.

So far the IPTV is fantastic! The picture is sharp and clear and the channel selection is super! I have the u200 package which gives us 200 channels. I am VERY happy with it so far!

AT&T Uverse – I saw a lot of AT&T trucks at the apartment complex today…

Maybe, just maybe they are preparing for my installation tomorrow. It’s possible. 🙂

I really want this to have a happy ending and be able to tell you by tomorrow night how much AT&T Uverse rocks! Stay tuned!

Update:
6:17 PM
I got a knock on my apartment door and met a man from AT&T. He was knocking on all the doors in the complex to let all the residents know that fiber optics for AT&T Uverse was all in place and ready for service here now. It is interesting that they didn’t do this until after I got here and ordered it. Just call me the trend setter!
😉

AT&T Uverse – not so sure about them yet…

I was excited about getting the new AT&T Uverse service offering a package with more channels, a free DVR Digital TV box and each additional DVR box only $5.00 per month! High speed Internet that is faster than RoadRunner…

Then the install date arrived and the technicians who were supposed to be here between 12:00 noon and 2:00 PM arrived at 6:00 PM and could not install my service due to a problem with a port at the apartment complex. They said that there was a bad port and they attempted to switch to another port but the main switch could not authorize the change until the next day. They said they would return the following day to do the installation.

That was supposed to be today… no one came, no one called. I called them when I got home from work they told me that because they ran into problems and the technicians couldnt finish the installation on Monday, they had to reschedule my installation date and they were backed up 2 to 3 weeks. I was NOT HAPPY! I ordered the service two weeks ago. I was given Nov. 3rd as my installation date. I told them that waiting for 2 to 3 weeks was not satisfactory and if this was the case I would cancel the order and go with Time Warner Cable and RoadRunner Internet. The lady told me that due to my special circumstances they could come back out in 48 hours. I am still not happy about that! I think that because they were so late to arrive on my scheduled day that they didn’t have enough time to do the troubleshooting and needed changes that they should come right back out and fix what is wrong the next day. This is not an unreasonable expectation.

I told the woman I was talking to that if the service is not installed and running by the end of the day on Thursday that I would cancel and go with cable. I will let you know what happens. Their customer service is lacking, and their priorities are a little off.
